Monday we went back to school after having Spring break. Let me tell ya that no one was wanting to go back, it was way too short! I think by mid week all of us were feeling very tired from not being in the school routine for a week.
Friday Ashann came home to visit and we all went to Sonic for supper.
On Saturday she joined the kids and I on our trip to the annual Bug Bowl! It was a beautiful day for this. Much better than last year! I think the Bug Bowl is Hollea's favorite activity of the year because she gets to see all different kinds of bugs from the Purdue Entomology department. This year she also got to see samples of blood spatter and identify there names in the CSI room. They also had a poster made up with pictures from there trip to the body farm which is where Hollea wishes she could go on a field trip to. (I don't think we could get that one approved for first graders, lol.) She was some what disappointed however because she didn't see her buddy Tom Turpin, aka "The Bug Guy". We also got Ashann to hold a tarantula which is a big feat for her because she's TERRIFIED of spiders! Bernice loves the insect petting zoo just as much as Hollea does I think. James Ashley didn't want to touch any of the bugs, he did however make Hollea mad by eating a chocolate covered cricket. Later that evening we went to Jacobs house for a cook out. They were celebrating Andrews birthday. The kids had fun roasting marshmallows and playing ball in the barn lot.
She's a goof ball.

There was a chocolate covered cricket on the end of that tooth pick.
On Sunday we decided to go back. Hollea was glad we went back because her name was called out of the drawing to be a "Roach Jockey" at the Roach Hill Downs Running Of the Roaches. She won a cute little hat and certificate to remember the occasion. She now wants a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, yuck! There was a guy from Purdue video taping the event and I need to find out some how what they do with the tapes because Hollea will be on it racing her roach. Bernice enjoyed looking at the baby animals in the Ag tent. James Ashley managed to make Hollea mad again this time by eating a cookie with crickets instead of chocolate chips and a banana cricket smoothie. He did however pass when they offered him meal worms with cinnamon and sugar on them. Bernice also tried the cookie with cricket in it. Hopefully this won't become on of her new recipes, lol.
He was eating the "cricket chip" cookie which he actually liked!
Drinking the cricket and banana smoothie that he liked as well.

I don't think this chef will be adding bugs to her recipes anytime soon.
