R.I.P. Queen

Yesterday was a sad day in the Crosby household. Hollea's best friend/beloved pet millipede passed away. For those of you that don't know Hollea wants to be a forensic entomologist when she's older so we have bug jars all over the house. In 2007 then the "Bug Guy" came to the fair for kids day, he brought with him a Giant African Millipede, Tarantula, and Giant Hissing Cockroaches. Hollea got to hold the tarantula loved every minute of it! We were at the pet store shortly before it burnt down. They had several tarantulas that Hollea tried to talk me into getting for her and I wouldn't budge!! Then she saw the Giant African Millipedes and talked daddy into letting her have one. She took it to school for show and tell not only for her class but we had to take her around for all the classes to see and I was so proud of Hollea because she not only showed Queen off but also educated them about her. Needless to say we are in search of a new one hopefully though we can find one a little younger. Queen has now been added to her collection of deceased bugs.

On a lighter note yesterday was also our last Christmas party so I will be posting pictures soon!

So that's a reindeer?

Yeah! All of the kids were healthy today so we did get to see Santa and his reindeer. The kids and I stood in line for an hour and a half in the cold waiting to speak with the jolly old guy. They had two reindeer there and the kids kept saying they thought reindeer were bigger than that. Every five minutes the kids would ask if the reindeer were babies and I would have to explain that they were indeed adults. We had a great time today other than freezing our toes off once again just to see Santa. Although I never thought that seeing the reindeer and visiting Santa would bring up so many questions about him. It was important for me that we see the reindeer today because I fear that the end is near to this fun little journey, after all Bernice is 8 years old now and I think her visits are numbered=( This is one time that I wish they would stay little forever because once her faith is gone the other two will quickly follow. I hope I still have at least one more year left or maybe two!

Tis the season!!

Everyone here is trying to stay healthy although we are failing. Bernice didn't go to school on Friday because she was running a fever and that afternoon Hollea started running one. Yesterday Hollea was still running a fever so I took her to the doctor and we found out she had strep throat =( They put her on medicine. Then today James woke up crying with a sore throat! Thankfully though we have a new Dr. and he said that I only have to get the prescription filled, no need to come back the day after Hollea was diagnosed with it! Yippee!! I wasn't looking forward to driving all the way to Plainfield two days in a row just for them to tell me the obvious. We are hoping everyone is well by Saturday because Santa's Reindeer are supposed to visit the Ace Hardware in Plainfield and we're planing on going.

Christmas Program

The girls had there Christmas program last night. Everyone had to dress in there Sunday best which was fine by me b/c I dress the kids up every chance I get! Sense I am the kindergarten teachers aide I had front row seats to get good pictures! Thankfully none of them had use the restroom until my kids were done singing. I can't wait until next year when all three of the kids will be in it =)

Santa is the special guest at the end of the program every year.

I always take there Christmas picture on the same night because I can't get James Ashley to dress up very often. He is too much like his daddy and papa!

COLD SUNDAY!!!

Today the kids and I went to the Christmas parade with Lilly, Ryan, and Gibby. We froze our toes off, although I do have to say at least it wasn't raining like last year. I think the kids did have a good time despite the weather. They each got a half a bag of candy. There favorite part is when Random House passes out books and they did not disappoint this year, 3 or 4 books per kid! So I guess it's safe to say we'll probably be freezing our toes again next year!

Ahh the holidays!

We had a great Thanksgiving. Every year we all stay home and have dinner together as a family because I believe Thanksgiving is the one holiday that you should stay home and be thank full for the ones at home. I make everything for our dinner (well almost everything, the homemade noodles are Carol's) but the turkey, yeast rolls, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie are all me. Friday we all went to moms for lunch. The kids and I were excited to see Ashann again sense she'd been gone almost 2 months! Then we went to Betsy's for supper. So it was a nice break after having to cook all day the day before. Saturday we were invited to go shopping with Betsy and her family. We had a lots of fun, thanks guys! Yesterday we put up the Christmas tree. so soon I will be posting portraits of the kids in front of it. All in all I think it was an awesome long weekend and we were sad to see it end!
